House Fic ~ She Was A Good Dr.

Here's a bit of writing I dreged up from my hard drive.  I can't remember for sure when it was written.  I'm pretty sure Jan/Feb of 2006.

She Was A Good Dr.
Author: Me
Disclaimer: I don't own House, M.D.  If I did, Dr. Chase would be my lurve slave.
Characters/Pairings: House, Cameron
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: The thoughts of Dr. House
Word Count: 338

Dedicated: to goldenotes_tales

She was a good Doctor, that much was true. But she was in it for the wrong reasons. She wanted to save the world. Make everyone well again. Fix all the broken wings. When someone died, or even worse; recovered to less then 100% she took it as a personal effrontery.
And people said his bedside manner sucked.
He limped past the room with the four friends, the three holding silent vigil. The young man sat on the floor; giving the chair up to the taller of the two women. She sat in it with her eyes glued to the tiny screen of her cell phone, thumb moving rapidly over the keypad.
Texting. His brain supplied.
The shorter girl stood at the head of the bed, fixing the sheets and brushing back his hair. It was unnecessary, but she did it anyway. Despite the machines that told her his pulse and respiration, she was checking it manually. She wore the same navy blue scrub pants she’d been wearing the day they’d come in, only the shirt had changed. He could tell they were old pants; they were a little too big, the drawstring hanging down in a big loopy bow.
Cameron was in there, checking the tubing. She looked like a lawyer next to the C.N.A. who was older then her by a couple of years. For someone who wanted to save the world, she looked out of place.
The taller woman looked up, as if she felt his eyes on her. Her thumb fell away from the keypad.
Her expression changed, This can’t be good. Scrolled across her face like the ticker-tape on CNN.
He tried to give a somewhat comforting look to her. It had been so long since he’d used that face.
I’ll have to send Chase in, people love the accent. They believe it.
She smiled at him. His eyes widened and he looked away.
Too much.
Awkwardly he limped away as Cameron’s eyes narrowed, her eyes missing nothing except the C.N.A. beside her.

I'm delighted with this story! So sad, but the pictures you created with the references and words (like the ticker tape line and the loopy bow on the baggy pants) are gorgeous!

Thank you for the dedication of such a wonderful story to me.

You're very welcome! :) I have another little ficlet from this 'verse', but it just kind of ends abruptly. I need to work on it a bit more and then it can be posted as well.
